διάφορα δὲ ἦν, ὅτι κατελέγοντο ἀντὶ τῶν ἀποθνησκόντων ὑπὸ μὲν Περσῶν τῆς μάχης ὕστερον, Γαλάταις δὲ ὑπʼ αὐτὴν τοῦ ἔργου τὴν ἀκμὴν ὁ ἀριθμὸς ἀπεπληροῦτο τῶν ἱππέων.
The syntax is partly appositional: ἦν takes the ὅτι-clause, while the final clause has ἀριθμός as subject with a genitive partitive complement; temporal and prepositional phrases are somewhat compressed.
