English Translation

Making attacks upon the cities, they took none, since the cities were strongly fortified with walls and carefully guarded. Receiving injuries, they withdrew unsuccessful, and in the end they ceased attempting the cities altogether. The Messenians, however, began plundering both the coastal areas of Laconia and all the agricultural lands around Taygetus.
