English Translation

But when a battle arose between the sons of Aphareus and their cousins, the Dioscuri, over cattle, Polydeuces slew one, while Idas met his destined fate, struck by a thunderbolt. With this event, the house of Aphareus was left entirely devoid of male descendants, and the rule over the Messenians passed to Nestor, son of Neleus, including all the territories once ruled by Idas, except those areas already subject to the sons of Asclepius.
